Crushed Beetles Soundtrack

from Yesterday's Tomorrow by Starpilot

art ego recognition where art ego recognition is due
feet coming down, landing on options
unsureties, sureties, paradoxical mirrored entities
the old voice of reason was never reason at all
but it seemed real because it could stand up for itself
suits and living room ties, jackets of slavery
go to the office, sleep in non-dairy creamer
listed but never told, bargains promised but never sold
another loophole, another convincing pitch
knocking down walls of widened eyes
i refuse to acknowledge it with a label
while sweating on the subway
returning to preconditioned state
a ransom note on your plate
it's harder when you've identified with your captor
identified with your conditioning
a lovely day to make the opponents of love powerless
understanding trumps judgement
gratitude trumps fear
candles can light other candles so easily
your wick only lacks a flame when you keep snuffing it out
rise above self to feel free
force quit your mind as it's stuck in an endless loop
terminate the entertaining distractions that keep you from seeing inside yourself

polyethylene picnic
commercials put your head on a spear
distract your eyes from shedding a tear
for the suffering
pick up tricks to cloud the mirror
fix up lists of whose demeanour you consider
worth giving your empathy while surfing social apathy
you do not, you cannot, know better than anyone else
shopping carts and mental muzzles
censored by cultural gutters
a trash bin for the heart you ignore
